This internship was definitely not what I was looking/hoping for, but I think it's pretty typical of a public relations or communications internship. I did a lot more watching than doing - in fact, interns weren't really given the chance to do anything except answer phones and compile media lists. The people in the office seem as accommodating as they can be without giving too much privilege.
Hours were really flexible so we could choose which days of the week to work, full days. As with most communications internships it was unpaid and that just generally sucks. I'm ...

I answered the phones all day, compiled and updated press clippings, pitched to the media on a daily basis, and updated media lists. I thought the internship was a waste of time. No opportunities to attend/help at the events you pitched for, for weeks. No interaction with anyone else besides those in the office. And I was the only intern, so there were no other interns to talk to.

Good time in a comfortable, fun atmosphere, that was also motivating, and educational. I looked forward to going to the office in the morning, and although it was a long day, I had a good time while I was there, especially with a welcoming group in the office (and a good number of 20 year olds, which is nice)
Yes, unfortunately I had to answer phones and relay messages for the staff, which obviously isn't the most fun task, but I also got a great deal of experience in dealing with media, researching editorial calendars, compiling media clip reports, ...
