During my tenure at Whisper PR in the summer of 2007 I was assigned to the beauty side of the firm. On this side I was attached to two mentors whom heleped me to understand the ins and outs of the PR industry. At one point in the summer I was able to work exclusively on one client's event, which allowed me to truly understand what goes in to the employer - client relationship. I learned how to write press releases and magazine pitches. The best part of the internship was the small office atmosphere which allowed for a more hands on and close relationship between the interns and the "real" employees. Whisper provided a free and creative environment for interns to be successful in whatever area of the firm they desired. I found myself getting up in the morning and feeling excited to go to work. If I were still in college I would intern with Whisper in a heart beat.
